New Linky Followers Works on WordPress Hosted Blogs Too
As most of you know by know, Google is doing away with Google Friend Connect, among other services. Read the article if you don’t already know what they are doing.
Some of you may have received the same email as I received from Linky Followers, the brand new alternative to GFC, brought to you by the same guy who created Linky Tools, that sign up thingy majig that you see me use for memes and my Blogger List. This is exciting news for bloggers and readers alike. Possibly the best news being that it works for WordPress hosted sites! So many of you from WordPress blogs have asked me how to add the widgets, and now you can. Just go to Linky Followers. It is easy to sign up and one you do, a code will be offered for both WordPress and non WordPress blogs.
To Get Things Rolling Giveaway
To help spread the word and get people to try out Linky Followers, I am hosting a giveaway that will end on the day that Google is officially pulling the plug on GFC to non Blogger blogs, March 1, 2012.
Two winners will receive their choice of the following books that are set for release just prior to the drawing:

Contest Guidelines
- Although following is almost never required for my giveaways, this giveaway is to promote the new Linky Follower option and is required to enter.
- Contest open internationally as long as book depository ships to your location. View the list of countries.
- Contest closes at 11:59 pm EST March 1, 2012.
- I reserve the right to purchase the book from any online bookstore. I will sometimes opt to do that if there is a US winner to speed up shipping.
- I am not responsible for books that are not released by the publisher. Winner will be asked for their choice of substitution in the event of a book not releasing.
- Must be 14 years of age or older to enter.
- I will not share any of your information, nor will I use your email for any other reason but to contact you if you win.
- Random.org will be used to choose the winners.
- The winners will be announced on this post and notified via e-mail on March 2, 2012. You will then have 48 hours to confirm your mailing address. If I do not hear from you, another winner will be chosen.
Congratulations to the winners:

Thanks for this great giveaway :) !! I'm dying to read Pandemonium and Partials so that's a great opportunity :) !!It is very sweet to make the giveaway international !!
I actually didn't know that Google was doing away with GFC, thanks for the tip ;) !! I'm now a linky followers blogger :) !!
Thanks again :)
Just to be clear, Google says that they are keeping it for Blogspot (Google) blogs. I didn't want you to hit the panic button for your blog. Thanks for following.
I signed up but I never got a confirmation e-mail and I did look in my spam folder.
Thanks for this giveaway! :)
Best regards, Diana
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
New follower via email and linky :)
Thanks for letting me know! I'll get the widget!
I'm sadly not impressed by this one... We have NetworkedBlogs and Bloglovin that already does this; showing numbers and letting people read posts on the sites dashboard, except these uploads the posts themselves onto it. Then FB page and G+ as well. The thing making GFC different was that they actually took your feed into Google Reader automatically and not only showing the number--even if in many case it's what they did. I still haven't found an option I like more than RSS since that gives the best options for the readers, IMO. For this kind of thing, I feel I already have NB.
May not be for everyone, but I like to offer options and let the reader decide. I agree with you, Rebecca, I like RSS as well, but there are many people that are still not aware of what it does. Maybe I should write a post about that sometime.
I like options too, but I feel it's so many ways to "follow" now! I'm definitely looking into it and see how it goes and might put it up as well later. But I won't be using it to read blogs personally!
I think posts are definitely needed! Just the other day I know someone who thought it all too confusing to put it up at all.
What a great alternative! Had to sign up, obviously. Let's see how my blog readers will react to the new possibility of following me!
awesome giveaway! thank you very much for making it international as well. c",)
Just testing to see if my new pic shows up in a new message.
So far I'm finding Linky Followers a bit clunky to use. It let me follow your blog but will not accept my password to add a picture to my account. I'm sure we will work it out.
I added my profile pic by uploading through my dashboard. I hope you can get it done without a huge hassle. Thanks for following.
OK, there we go, it finally let me into my dashboard. Thanks for hosting this giveaway.
Hey thanks for the heads-up about linkyfollowers! I'd never heard of it before, but now maybe I'll be able to save (most) stuff when GFC ends!
Thank you for this giveaway
Thanks a lot for this great giveaway!
